Photographic Results -- Part I
These are the first results from a
photographic study of the rubber band. The composite of photographs
below shows 7 separate firings of the rubber band. The time delay
(photogate triggering to flash discharge) is given for each image in
units of milliseconds (0.001 s).
Some variation in the shape and position of the band is to be
expected from one firing to the next due to the inability to release
the band exactly the same way every time. Nevertheless, conclusions
about the motion of the band can be reached.
