The Multi-Trigger 3+ (MT3+) is an upgrade from the Multi-Trigger 3. The Multi-Trigger 3+ has all the same inputs and outputs as the Multi-Trigger 3, supports the same sensors, has the same convenient dial-in controls for delay and timeout, and, in addition, includes an input for a TTL source. This allows one to trigger the MT3+ with a low-voltage pulse such as that provided by an Arduino or other microcontroller output. Here is a list of features:
LEDs to indicate power on, photogate alignment, and event triggering
inputs for microphone and photogate sensors as well as external triggers
optically-isolated input for a low-voltage trigger pulse
fine (up to 0.05 s) and coarse (up to 0.5 s) delay adjustments
selector for one of two delay ranges (0 to 0.5 s or 0 to 0.05 s)
continously-variable timeout setting up to 1 s
instant and delayed optically-isolated outputs for cameras
instant and delayed outputs for flash or wireless transceiver, protected up to 400V
instant and delayed low-voltage pulse outputs
The MT3+ kit includes all the parts for the control box, the microphone cable, and the interrupter type of photogate cable. This is the cable one would use in conjunction with the AstroSplash Drop Controller to capture drop collisions. The variable-width type of photogate cable can be purchased as an accessory. Also see the accessories page to order the optional 9V AC/DC adapter.
The Multi-Trigger 3+ kit with control box and sensor cables requires assembly. Experience in wiring, soldering, and troubleshooting electrical circuits is assumed. Additional information:
In order to trigger a flash unit or wireless transceiver, select a flash trigger cable kit.
In order to trigger a camera shutter, select the shutter cable for your camera.
See below for options.
Flash Trigger Cable Kit (3.5mm type)
This kit is for preparing a cable to connect the flash output of the Multi-Trigger 3 to a PC jack. The kit includes a PC-type connector for the flash, a 3.5mm mono plug, 3-ft of 2-conductor cable, and heat-shrink tubing. Assembly is required. If your flash unit doesn't have a PC jack but does have a hot shoe, the hot shoe adapter shown to the right can be used together with a flash trigger cable for flash triggering.
If your flash unit is one of the Vivitar models 283, 285HV, or 3700, you'll need a Vivitar PC-1 cord to connect to your flash unit. Click here for one possible source. If you're triggering your flash wirelessly or your flash unit has a 3.5mm synch jack, see this page for 3.5mm cables.
PC cable kit with 3.5mm plug,
unassembled - $4.95
PC flash trigger cable,
Select a flash cable kit $4.95), a hot shoe adapter ($9.95), or a combination of flash cable kit ($13.90). The latter combination saves you $1 over purchasing the items separately.
We provide shutter cables for most camera makes/models for use with our triggers. When you order a shutter cable, we include an extension cable and adapter, if needed, to convert the cable for use with the 3.5mm stereo jack on our triggers.
Select your camera make/model below and note the corresponding ID. If you don't find your model listed, compare the socket on your camera to the photos below. The photos will enlarge by clicking on them. If you are still unable to determine the type of plug that you need, please contact us. If you already have a shutter release and want to convert it for use with our triggers, this page may help.
All shutter cables, which include extension cords and adapters (if needed), are $12.95.
