The Dual Light Sensor (DLS) has two detection modes, termed Light and Dark. In Light mode, the DLS detects flashes of light from such events as a lightning bolt or another flash unit. In Dark mode, the DLSis an infrared photogate, detecting blockage of the infrared beam. There are separate cables for the emitter and detector as shown in Photos 2 and 3. These provide greater flexibility in the positioning of the emitter and detector as compared to the Multi-Trigger 3 or 3+. There is also an increased sensitivity range, allowing the emitter and detector to be separated by a greater distance. As a result of the two detection modes, the DLS replaces the former Light Sensor and also serves as a single-beam photogate for triggering on falling objects and projectiles. The DLScan be used in conjunction with a Delay Timer to generate synchronizing delay intervals electronically.
All parts for the assemblies shown in Photos 1-3 are provided in the Dual Light Sensor Kit. Assembly is required.
While the DLS operates on a 9V battery, an AC/DC wall adapter can be useful for extended operation.

What else is needed
In order to trigger a flash unit or wireless transceiver, select a flash trigger cable kit.
In order to trigger a camera shutter, select the shutter cable for your camera.
See below for options.
Flash Trigger Cable Kit (RCA type)
This kit is for preparing a cable to connect the flash output of a trigger to a PC jack. The kit includes a PC-type connector for the flash, an RCA plug, 3-ft of 2-conductor cable, and heat-shrink tubing. Assembly is required. If your flash unit doesn't have a PC jack but does have a hot shoe, the hot shoe adapter shown to the right can be used together with a flash trigger cable for flash triggering.
If your flash unit is one of the Vivitar models 283, 285HV, or 3700, you'll need a Vivitar PC-1 cord to connect to your flash unit. Click here for one possible source. If you're triggering your flash wirelessly or your flash unit has a 3.5mm synch jack, see this page for 3.5mm cables.
PC cable kit with RCA plug,
unassembled - $4.95
PC flash trigger cable,
Select a flash cable kit $4.95), a hot shoe adapter ($9.95), or a combination of flash cable kit ($13.90). The latter combination saves you $1 over purchasing the items separately.
We provide shutter cables for most camera makes/models for use with our triggers. When you order a shutter cable, we include an extension cable and adapter, if needed, to convert the cable for use with the 3.5mm stereo jack on our triggers.
Select your camera make/model below and note the corresponding ID. If you don't find your model listed, compare the socket on your camera to the photos below. The photos will enlarge by clicking on them. If you are still unable to determine the type of plug that you need, please contact us. If you already have a shutter release and want to convert it for use with our triggers, this page may help.
All shutter cables, which include extension cords and adapters (if needed), are $12.95.
